SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2007

Well another day is over and more work has been done to the nursery. Here are the pictures from the end of the day...

So all the painting is DONE...two coats on the walls and three on the doors. We can't hang the border until the very soonest Wednesday as it tells you to let your new paint cure for 72 hours before hanging border. So we must wait. Instead I made The Husband help put all the furniture into its place for the most part so I could see what the room was looking like. Now I have a better idea what still needs done. The Husband's going to paint the outlet covers orange and then put those on. I've decided I want shelves above the changing table so we're going to look for those. I also think we just need more storage so we took measurements and we're going hunting tomorrow. Then I also need to find a ceiling fan for the room that I like. They have a very sucky selection for boy fans. I found the one we're getting for K-Girl's room a while back. Each of the blades is a different color and it has flowers on it and the pullstrings are butterflies - adorable. But no such luck for E-Man's room so far. They had an ugly primary color one and they had a baseball one. What is it that says that if it's little boy it must be sports. Blah. So we shall see. The hunt is on. The Husband's calling in the morning to make the appointment to have the electrician come out and do all the work and then he'll be able to go ahead and put up the fans. I can not wait until I have overhead lighting in the bedrooms. I also finally decided on what personal touch I'm going to give the nursery. On the closet doors...

I am going to paint the animals that are on the border/curtain/bedding...

I took the pictures of the actual animals and I'm going to print them out on regular paper. Then I will trace the actual animals and The Husband will take them to work and copy them onto overhead transparency. Then he can bring home the projector and we can put them up and paint them on the doors. I might normally freehand them, but for this that I am trying to duplicate the actual piece that is other places in the room I just don't want to screw it up at all. It needs to be perfect or my analness just won't be happy with it. So I've decided this might be a little more of a pain to do, but in the end I'll be most happy with the results I get. So that's my plan on how to personalize the nursery.

You'll see more pictures when the border gets put up, but that might not be till next weekend depending on how this week goes.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2007

Well work has finally started on the nursery. Yay! I can't wait until the room is completely finished and then we know that is done. We have a lot of other work we want to do before E-Man's appearance, but as long as the nursery is done everything else will be icing on the cake. So I thought I would share a sneak peek of the work we have done today. First the before pictures - well it's taped off and has a massive pile in the middle of the room so it's not perfect, but you get the idea (don't mind the lighting issues - the light coming in the window and then the lamp without the shade was messing with it)....

And then today we got the orange completely finished, but we only rolled on one coat of the blue and it's going to need at least one more coat - maybe two. So that's tomorrow's plan. Here are the pictures after tonight (again the lighting is a bit funky at times)...

I'm pleased so far. When we put one coat of the orange on it looked super peachy, but now with the second coat it's definitely taken on more of the orange. I didn't want a pumpkin color, but still I wanted orange. So I'll be excited to see all the painting done and see how it all starts coming together. Tomorrow the painting will be finished and we bought the pull blind tonight and the curtain rod so we'll be able to hang the valance tomorrow as well. Then Monday after we're sure it's good and dry and everything The Husband is planning on putting up the border and then setting all the furniture into place. Then it will be ready to just set things in their places and work on the details. It'll be nice to know that the big jobs are done in there.

And for those of you that don't know what the theme is here is a picture of the border that we are putting up...

It's Malawi by Kidsline. It's the same nursery as we had for K-Girl since we only were able to use K-Girl's nursery for 6 months before we moved. This time we're not doing it the same though obviously. There will probably be a monkey on the wall or something else, but for the most part we're keeping it colors and the border in the middle and that's about it. We'll see what I come up with to try to make it a little more unique and since I LOVED the monkeys from K-Girl's old nursery they might make another appearance. We shall see.
