I'm really excited about doing this handmade Christmas this year. I've gotten a few really neat gifts so far and made a few others. And best of all - Wal-Mart has not been included! ;) My latest accomplishment is a throw for The Husband's grandmother. She was difficult to come up with an idea for because she is almost completely blind so something that she has to see to appreciate would just be hard on her. It hurts for her to not be able to see the kids and stuff like that. So we thought that a blanket that she can cover up with on chilly days and that was handmade for her might be a really nice gift. It really worked up quickly. From the first chain to the last tassel it only took 4 sessions and a total of about 9 hours. If I had gotten larger chunks of time to work at it and get into the groove where your speed picks up a bit it may have taken me slightly less time, but not too much. The colors are a rose, dusty purple, and taupe. I'm very happy with the outcome and I do believe she will be too. I wish you could feel it because it is worked up with three pieces of yarn at once and it came out so soft and squishy. So you want to see?
Hanging so you can see the tassels nicely...
Lengthwise so you can see the size better...
And a close up to see the work a little better...

Hey Kelli -- That is a really nice throw. She will love it!
Wow that is beautiful. I'm horrible jealous I have always wanted to be able to do that.
It's beautiful, Kelli - she is just going to love it!!
Take care - Kellan
Wow! I wish I could do that! Great job!
Beautiful!! Squishy and soft it looks. She will love it.
Oh that is beautiful!!
I have also done handmade for the nieces/nephews for the past few years (we now have 20!). This year its going to be some really quick crocheted hats ;) as I'm getting a late start this year!
This is the upside to the financial crises-- people make lovely thoughtful things again instead of running to wally world at the last minute to buy something that will just get recycled. It's beautiful, and a thoughtful gift!
awesome!!! I think that's definately something she'll appreciate. Receiving home-made stuff is always so nice. I made Em a poncho awhile ago, and she put it on the other day and said, "I feel like I'm getting a hug from you when I wear this". A whole lotta love and time went into making it, so I was thrilled with her comment. LOL
Bee-utiful! I love soft and squishy blankets, in case you decide to make a few extra and need someone to give them too. ;)
Kelli!!!!
That's gorgeous!
You have fantastic talent.
Must post more.
Beautiful! I wish I could do stuff like that!
