I found this really cute book at Michael's the last time I was in...

You see the thing that sold me with this book is that little black kitty in the lower right-hand corner. Any Hello Kitty fans out there? It's Chococat! Sure they call him Chaos A. Cat in the book but seriously it's Chococat right down to the blue collar. So I had to have the book. K-Girl loves Hello Kitty and Chococat. I know I need to make her one of those little kitties perhaps as part of her birthday coming up.
My second reason is that honestly I was looking for some variety with gifts. I thought these looked like fun.
I decided to give this little hippo named "Lourdes" a try...

I changed up the colors a bit and decided to sew on the eyes since I didn't want any choking risks and this is my end product...

Isn't she cute?! I can't wait to make a few more of them. I just need to decide which to make next.

very cute! I was thinking about attempting some knit animals, but it seems there are better (and more!) patterns for crochet, which I don't know how to do!!

OH!! I saw those in a JoAnn's flyer before Christmas and thought they were SOOOO adorable! So are they easy....and by easy, I mean, can someone who doesn't know how to do much with a needle do it?? I'm all over them - adorable!

I had to stop by b/c of that cute little owl header! I love the little critter! Chococat is big at our house as well...more liked than Hello Kitty!
Absolutely adorable! I love that hippo!! I downloaded several free patterns for animals from the Lion Brand Yarn site :) they are so fun to make and the kids just love them! They even had a weiner dog, which my two had been fighting over the "mr. weenie" we got with open season 2...
