Last night we went grocery shopping.
As we were leaving there was a taxi waiting. In the back was a man holding a small child about a year or so old. Next to him sat another small child maybe 3 at the most. The woman was loading groceries into the trunk. She closed the trunk, got in on the other side in the back, and the taxi left. There were no car seats to be seen. I kept waiting for her to get them out of the trunk or something. But she didn't.
I was floored.
FLOORED!
It is one thing to see someone taking children in their own car without a car seat. It's bad enough then and it makes me so mad. But to see this in a taxi?! Shouldn't the driver be responsible enough not to allow children in the cab without car seats?!
I cannot get over it. I ranted as I was strapping E-Man into his car seat. And then I wished I would have looked closer at the taxi to see what company they worked for so that I could call and complain or something...anything.

That kills me, too! People here all the time have their kids not in car seats...and it scares me, too.
I would have been BOILING mad too. You could grab the license plate if it happens again and call 911.
I do that if I see a dog in a car on a hot day.
This reminds me of Tuesday when I came out of the gas station and watched the woman come out behind me get back in her car...that had been left running...with her child strapped in his carseat.... UGH.
And here I felt like a bad mom because I did't hold Julia's hand as she walked on the sidewalk in front of the gas station where the cars pull right up to when they park.
Yeah I guess one of them could've sat next to the driver and then still fit 2 carseats into the back with the other person. I know they have taxi cab minivans out now and I assume it's for this reason. Crazy and dangerous especially with the way cabbie's drive.
Don't you just wonder what people are thinking? It infuriates me too!
That's horrible. I saw a lady sitting in the front passanger seat of a car going down main street, while BF her infant (who looked only weeks old). I called the police. I have no sympathy for their idiocy.
When we moved here my former babysitter told me it wasn't a law or some BS to have kids over 4 years old in a carseat. Well El wasn't 4 years old and I didn't give a crap what law wasn't there under no circumstances was Elly not to be in a carseat.
Well months later I went to pick up Elly and she had to pick up her kids from school...well out comes Elly out of the car and three other kids were in the back...no carseat and the real kicker Elly had been sharing a effing seat belt with another kid.
I canned her right on the spot and paid her for the days work. I was so pissed. Jeopardized your own kids saftey whatever but don't you ever put my childs saftey in danger.

yes, i go ballistic at red lights when i see kids bopping around i know should be fastened.
i mean i guess we all lived through the "no seat belt" days, umm, we even rode in the back of a pickup truck (no redneck jokes, please).
since i am a pacifist, i just shoot them really, really dirty looks.
