I blame Stephanie for this purchase, but I thank her as well. I was reading her blog and I just stopped and stared at the carrier. The embroidery is gorgeous. So I'm reading and thinking how perfect this sounds. I've seen Ergos before but they really never struck me. Probably because I've only ever seen them in black or a khaki color - never anything so pretty.
E-Man just turned 2 years old. He is 36 1/2" and weighs 29lbs. Let me tell you, I am so comfortable in this carrier. I can not feel his weight in it like I was in my other carriers. I won't say he's light as a feather, because well that's just a lie. But it feels like he weighs less when he's in this. The padding is perfect. The waist is thick enough and doesn't create a pressure point like sometimes can happen with a waist strap of a mei tai. It distributes his weight wonderfully.
I had an Ocah and I loved it. But over the past few months it started to hurt more and more. It just wasn't carrying his weight well. He was a little too tall for the body and leaned like crazy in it. It hurt a bit to part with it (it was sooo soft and I loved the color), but I had to let go of that one to fund my Ergo. I sold and purchased on TheBabyWearer. I gave a great deal to the momma who has my Ocah, but I also got an amazing deal on this Ergo as well. I'm very grateful as it came to me new in the box as if I'd purchased it from the company myself.
Today I wore the Ergo for the first time for any extended amount of time. I wore him for a little over 2 hours. It was fabulous. I had no pain when I was done. After about an hour and 45 minutes he woke up grouchy - I stopped walking ;) - so I did take him off my back and put him on my front. The only thing that I found was that even though he fell asleep he wanted nothing to do with the sleeping hood. I must have tried at least a dozen times, but each time he would wake enough to pull it away so I gave up. So he did a bit of nodding back, but I guess he preferred that as it didn't wake him unlike my messing with the hood.
I'm generally a mei tai momma. I just love them - especially my Kozy. I've been using them since K-Girl was about 2. I've used other carriers, but I always rave about my mei tais. I don't know guys. I really like this Ergo. It's awesome to clip the buckle on my waist and pull it tight, put him on my back, pull up the straps, buckle the clip in front, and then tighten those straps. So unbelievably easy. Seriously.
My only regret is that I didn't get my hands on one of these sooner as obviously, my babywearing days are numbered. Rather than counting the number of times a day that I put him in a carrier, I am now counting the number of times a week and sometimes even not using them for longer than a week. It's definitely something that I will miss. It's so nice to hold them so close.
So enough yakking. How about some pictures?
Here's two The Husband got for me showing E-Man on my back...
And here is today, right before I headed home, while I had him up front.
Isn't it so pretty?

that carrier looks mighty fine on you my friend. :)
Cute carrier! I'm not a babywearer personally, but I've only heard fabulous things about the Ergo.
I love my Ergo, too. I haven't used it too much on the back yet, but totally on the front.
Mine isn't pretty like yours, though.
We puffy heart loved our Ergo! Used it even before they were hip and fashionable. But had to stop when daughter turned around 2. Even though she's small, it is just too rough on my back these days.
can i just say you are the QUEEN of child-wearing.
Love it! I have an Ergo too, but Bria is just far too independant to be worn anymore. Otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd be feeling the love too! And I love the fabric you chose.
