Today was the big day. We've been talking it up since before the summer started. Today K-Girl started kindergarten. KINDERGARTEN?! How did that happen?! It's just mind-blowing.
It was crazy to me that she was big enough to start preschool...
And then I couldn't believe another year passed and she was one of the 4's...
Now another year has passed and I watched my baby go off to kindergarten...
She has been so excited about starting and honestly so have I. She's been bored most of the summer although we've been more than busy with so many fun things. She's more than ready and I know she'll love it. But it's still hard to send your baby on a bus. I think that's the hardest part of it for me - the bus. They are just such little people to be on such a big big school bus.
This morning's experience was much like pulling off a bandaide though - rip it fast and it stings a bit less. K-Girl woke up before my alarm, set for 6:45, even went off. She dressed, ate, and was ready to go. I decided that we should be to the bus stop maybe 10 minutes early or so because I most definitely did not want to miss it on the first day. She was sad leaving "Honey" (the little kitty in the pictures) home as she goes EVERYWHERE with "Honey". I told her that she could take her to the bus stop and I would bring her home and keep her safe until we picked her up after school. She was happy again. We got there 12 minutes early and not a minute passed till I saw it driving up the road. I couldn't believe it was there already. I gave K-Girl a big hug and kiss and the doors opened for her to get on. I had to ask her 3 times to turn around for a picture until the bus driver asked her for me and finally she turned around. It wasn't until I was looking at these pictures that I realized that I totally forgot to get "Honey" from her before getting on the bus. It just happened so quickly. I hope that having her along didn't cause a problem and that she comes home safe as well.
Her bus driver told her that her seat was number seven and she headed back to find it. Of course she was on the other side.
No sooner had she waved and blew me a kiss then the bus started off. *Sniff Sniff*
It was then that I had a moment to take a breath and shed a few tears as E-Man and I walked back to the house to start our first day of the school year.
She's got a long day. School starts at 9:00 and dismisses at 3:35. She gets on the bus around 8:25 and gets home at 4:00. I'm interested to see how she'll do with such long days. But I think she'll do so much better than if she was in half day. She's ready, but I'm sure there will be an adjustment period.
I'm looking forward to getting things in order around here again. The last month of summer vacation has been hard. It's been chaotic and busy - like something going on every day busy. There is no order to my day and like-wise little order to the house. I'm hoping that as we fall into a steady school routine that I can get myself back to my chore lists and finally feel organized and productive again. I've been craving structure so badly.
I'm also looking forward to this year of having one-on-one time with E-Man. I've had the time that K-Girl's been in preschool, but there's not a lot that happens in the 2 hours that you have. I've never had much of the time like this with him like I had with K-Girl. I'm really excited about that. Next year he'll be off to preschool - GASP!
So here's to a new school year - I hope it's a great one!
