He knows if you've been bad or good...

Santa has decided that Mom and Dad need some extra help this Christmastime and has sent us some backup. This backup is in the form of a little elf named "Noel" or "Manuel" if you ask K-Girl. ;)

Last night Santa stopped by and left a letter, a present, and his special elf behind for them to find this morning.

Santa's Letter

While breakfast was cooking we read Santa's letter. Here is a copy of the wording...

Dear K-Girl & E-Man,

I have decided to send one of my special elves to your house to help keep a closer eye on you both. His name is Noel and I hope you will enjoy his being there. There are a few things that you need to know about having an elf in your house. The first thing that you need to know is that Noel is a very special elf and he is filled with Christmas Magic. You do not want to touch him as this will take away his magic. During the day Noel stays very still and does his job by watching how naughty or nice you both are being - so remember to be good for goodness sake. As soon as everyone goes to bed at night, Noel uses his Christmas Magic and travels back to the North Pole to let me know how you have been that day. After he is done telling me how you were he pops back home and waits for you to awake the next morning to continue his watch. You will probably find that Noel, like most elves, is a bit playful and will probably not be found in the same spot when you wake up the next day. He may even be a bit mischievous, himself, at times. Hopefully he will not be up to too much trouble while he is there. On Christmas Eve while I am making my rounds I will pick up Noel along with my other special elves and bring them home to the North Pole until next year. Once I have assigned a special elf to you they tend to like to visit each year there after. So don't be sad on Christmas morning when you awake to find he's gone away. He may just be back next year.
Santa Claus

After reading the letter I read the book that Santa brought for them while they ate their breakfast. The book was Christopher Pop-In-Kins. It tells about the first elf that came to watch over children to let Santa know how they have been. It's a cute book.

Noel climbed high up onto the dining room light to keep out of the way and do his listening for today. It took quite a while for the kids to find him this morning even though he had just climbed up above the kitchen table and was sitting on the top of the light.

The kids were excited about him, but especially K-Girl, had a lot of questions. K-Girl thinks he looks a lot like just a decoration, but with a little help she believes that he just can hold still as a statue until we all fall asleep and then he comes to life and runs around. I think as the charades unfold she'll believe a bit stronger.
